The Sundance Institute Reveals Ticketing Details, Sale Dates, Venues, and Online Platform Details for the 2023 Sundance Film Festival

Last week, the Sundance Institute announced the first details of the 2023 Sundance Film Festival that will take place from January 19th to January 29th, 2023, including ticketing details, sale dates, venues, and the Festival online platform.

For the 2023 Festival, the Sundance Institute will expand its ticketing options, introducing the World Cinema Package and the SLC Youth Pass. The World Cinema package will be offered to in-person and online attendees and provide festivalgoers with ten tickets to international documentary and fiction films in the Festival program. For attendees aged 18 to 25 living in the Salt Lake City area, Sundance will be offered a $200 pass. For Utah residents, the Locals Package will offer ten tickets to in-person screenings for the entire Festival, with early access to ticket selection before ticket sales go public.

“We are bringing the upcoming Festival to passionate audiences in attendance in Utah and across the country online, reaffirming our emphasis on discovering new talent, empowering independent artists and projects, and ensuring communities have access to impactful storytelling,” said Joana Vicente, CEO of the Sundance Institute. “With new offerings and comprehensive options for engagement, we welcome you to join us in celebrating the Festival experience and the programming that drives timely conversations influencing change.”

Passes and packages will go on sale to the public starting on October 17th, with online ticketing going on sale on December 13th and individual ticket sales opening to the public on January 12th, 2023. Pre-access sales for passes and packages will be available to Sundance Institute members at the Storyteller and Supporter levels starting October 13th, with Sundance Circle donors being able to purchase them beginning October 4th. All members can purchase tickets beginning January 11th, 2023.

The Utah-based Festival will also add additional screens in both Park City and Salt Lake City. Premieres, second screenings, talks, and events will take place at Park City venues, including the Eccles Theatre, Egyptian Theatre, Holiday Village Cinemas, Library Center Theatre, Park Avenue Theatre, The Ray Theatre, Redstone Cinemas, and Prospector Square Theatre, among others. Salt Lake City's venues participating in Sundance 2023 include Broadway Centre Cinemas, Grand Theatre, Rose Wagner Center, and Megaplex Theatres at The Gateway, with screenings also to take place at the Sundance Mountain Resort Screening Room in Sundance, UT.

In addition to its in-person offerings, Sundance's online platform is live here. It includes a preview of this year's ticket offerings, a "How to Fest" guide for both online and in-person experiences, with more information being provided by the Sundance Institute leading up to and throughout the Festival.

Besides this, the online platform includes the new Sundance Film Festival logo and the overall 2023 Festival branding. Check it out if you get the chance!

In other Festival news, recent announcements include Sundance Film Festival Director of Programming Kim Yutani's departure. She will be replaced by Eugene Hernandez, who movie fans might recognize as the Senior Vice President of Film at Lincoln Center, Executive Director of the New York Film Festival, and publisher of Film Comment.

After the 60th edition of the New York Film Festival wraps on October 16th, Eugene will join the Sundance Institute as Festival Director and Head of Public Programming in November. He will collaborate with Kim Yutani, Vicente, and the Institute's leadership team for the 2023 Festival. The 2024 Sundance Film Festival will be Hernandez's first Festival leading as Director, which marks the Festival's 40th anniversary.

On top of this, Hartbeat announced that Maryanna Berrin, Kiana Butler Jabangew, and Danielle Solomon are the recipients of this year's Women Write Now comedic screenwriting fellowship. Each writer will receive a year-long first-look deal with Heartbeat and will premiere their completed short films during the 2023 Sundance Film Festival.

Until next time!
